Cold roads ahead! Check out Callaghan Innovation’s article on the work we have been collaborating on. Great work Nik Vishwanath from Road Science who was a part of this project. https://lnkd.in/f7mmQ6u

We have sprayed emulsion on the east coast of New Zealand for the past 5 years, get the prep right and the spray rates right, they work perfectly. Even with the logging trucks hitting STAB patches daily in road temps between 40 and 50 deg they have held up perfectly. Safety First.

100% of Chip Seal (Surface Dressing) binders used for over 20 years in the UK (Similar climate to New Zealand ) are bitumen emulsions. Mostly polymer modified emulsion binders. Having had the experience of working with both cutbacks and emulsions, I would strongly recommend the use of emulsions over cutbacks.
