Mobile Laboratories

Road Science has four relocatable mobile laboratories, with the ability to be deployed around New Zealand and the Pacific. Road Science's mobile facilities are all equipped and managed to provide IANZ accredited testing of soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt depending on your specific project requirements. Our experienced laboratory technicians manage and operate the mobile laboratories to provide IANZ testing and technical services onsite. The mobile laboratories allow customers to have dedicated laboratory services onsite to mitigate the risk of program delays whilst waiting on laboratory testing.

In recent years, Road Science have established and operated mobile laboratories in Kaikoura, Queenstown, Chatham Islands, Niue, and Gisborne.

Nuie

Niue Mobile Laboratory Services provided:

  • Asphalt Mix design completed in the Tauranga laboratory
  • Aggregate quality assurance and prequalification of aggregates for asphalt mix design
  • Asphalt binder content and grading quality assurance testing
  • Asphalt gyratory compaction and volumetric testing
Chathams

Chatham Island Laboratory Services provided:

  • In-situ aggregate density NDM testing
  • Dynamic cone penetrometer testing
  • Benkelman Beam testing
  • Aggregate production testing; particle size distribution, sand equivalent, maximum dry density / optimum water content
  • Asphalt mix design completed in the Wellington Laboratory
  • Aggregate quality assurance and prequalification of aggregates for asphalt mix design
  • Asphalt binder content and grading quality assurance testing
  • Asphalt gyratory compaction and volumetric testing
Kaikoura

Kaikoura Laboratory services provided:

  • In-situ aggregate density NDM testing
  • Dynamic cone penetrometer testing
  • Light weight falling deflectometer testing
  • Concrete slump and moulding of cylinders
  • Concrete curing and compressive strength
  • Aggregate production testing; particle size distribution, sand equivalent, broken faces, maximum dry density / optimum water content
Queenstown

Queenstown Laboratory Services provided:

  • In situ aggregate density NDM testing
  • Dynamic cone penetrometer testing
