We're excited to share a significant milestone in our sustainability journey at Road Science. Our Bluff Bitumen Plant has commissioned an electric hot oil heater, advancing our efforts to transition away from fossil fuels for heating.
Supported by the EECA’s GIDI fund, this initiative complements our existing furnace with a renewable alternative.
As Ross Godkin, our National Manufacturing Manager, puts it, “this project allows for a gradual transition while reducing diesel consumption completely.”
By shifting to Bitumen Emulsion, we can achieve lower heating temperatures and reduce our carbon footprint by 171 tonnes per year—equivalent to removing 68 cars from the road! 🌍
This innovative approach aligns with the NZ Transport Agency's goals for a low-carbon bitumen industry and shows the possibilities for sustainable solutions. 💚
We also liked to see our COO - Transport & Infrastructure, Murray Robertson making healthy choices!
