Road Science, in collaboration with the New Plymouth Infrastructure Partnership, Downer and New Plymouth District Council , is thrilled to unveil Bio Bind - a low-carbon bitumen replacement set to transform the roading industry.
Bio Bind is an eco-friendly alternative that eliminates the need for petroleum-based materials. It serves as a direct substitute for traditional bitumen, over 70% of Bio Bind is derived from renewable sources, mainly from trees.
Years of Research, Now in Action
Two-years of dedicated laboratory research have led to the real-world trial of Bio Bind in partnership with NPDC, marking a significant leap in sustainable road construction.
Driving Innovation with Bio Bind
Bio Bind is already available in various asphalt products that meet New Zealand Transport Agency standards. It matches the performance of traditional bitumen while being adaptable to evolving materials. Our goal is a fully renewable and recycled Bio Bind product.
